Music/Sound

Sound in the film

We initially wanted to seperately record the sound for the film using a Blue Yeti microphone, however we then decided against this as we found that the built-in microphone on the Canon 550D we were using to shoot the film produced a similar audio quality.

In the editing process, we used the audio settings on Adobe Premiere Pro to reduce as much background noise as possible and also make clean transitions between different audio parts of different scenes.

The most difficult part of this process was editing the voice-over audio to match the video sequence.

Music in the film

In my initial visualization of the film, I knew that I wanted to have an understated piece of music so as not to over-bear what is actually go on in the film but rather help the audience better understand the emotions which we are trying to put across.

Inspiration for this style of background music came from my love of piano scores in films and television programmes.

A particular favourite is this piece used in the Korean drama series That Winter, The Wind Blows.

The solitary piano provides a subtle musical experience for viewers.

We browsed through a lot of independant musicians on YouTube amd eventually found a talented musician named Mattia Cupelli. We used his song ‘Lullaby’ for the score of Frame.
